What Is a File Sharing Portal?

A portal is a dedicated, secure space with its own inbox, file request settings, and notification policies. Each portal has its own user access list, ensuring only authorized people can access the files received through that portal.

Portals are brandable outward-facing, permitting collaborators to share files securely with you. They can be made private, allowing only specific people to access them. Instead of using insecure methods such as sharing files via email, use a portal to facilitate secure file transfers.

Enhance Stakeholder Experience

Streamlined Collaboration

Portals enable seamless collaboration, allowing external users to upload and share files with you securely. There is no need to install software or assign privileges. Just share the portal link and start receiving files.

By using portals, you offer collaboration partners a simple, secure way to share files with you. They won’t need to configure anything, define ports, or use login credentials. They just visit the portal and send files as if they were sending email attachments.

Centralized Control & Transparency

Administrators with multi-user business or enterprise accounts have total transparency into all portals. They can add or remove users from a portal, thereby determining who receives files from specific portals. Portals may be assigned to more than one user.

What You Get With a Filemail Portal

Dedicated Inbox

Each portal has a a dedicated inbox, which will appear under your unified inbox. The portal-specific inbox can receive file transfers via one of two methods. The first is from the public-facing front end, where anyone with the unique portal link can send files anytime.

File Availability

Automatically assign file expiration dates for files received via your portal. You can choose from a range of durations. After the selected duration, we will automatically delete the files from your account.

User-Specific Portals

Portals are user-specific. The user who created the portal or the administrator of the account owns and operates it. Users are not privy to the activity within other portals. An account admin will have total transparency into all portals created by all users.

Activity Notifications

We inform file sharers upon successful file uploading, and when files are downloaded. For file requests, additional notifications remind collaborators who have yet to respond.

Portal-Specific File Requests

Each portal has dedicated file request functionality. Files received in response to a request will only appear within the portal used to generate that request. You can create an unlimited number of file requests for a portal.

Access Control

Control access to the portal by assigning a password to protect and validate access attempts. Potential visitors to the portal must submit the password to access the file upload area.

Benefits of a Filemail Secure File Sharing Portal

Enabling Compliance

Portals help facilitate compliant file sharing in accordance with numerous regulations, thanks to a set of interlocked features. Because portals can be assigned to specific users, you can comply with policies that state only authorized personnel have access to sensitive information.

Branding and Customization

Customize the portal to align with your brand. Provide a cohesive, seamless experience consistent with your website and other brand materials. Add your logo, use your brand colors, and edit the copy on the page. You can also customize the emails we send on your behalf, such as notifications that files have been downloaded.

Privacy-Respecting File Requests

File requests are targeted, meaning you determine with whom you share the request. You generate a request and share it only with specific people, heightening the secure acquisition and exchange of information.
